Scottish Baseball Development Programme Launches New Website and Announces First Regional Talent Evaluation Day
Scottish Baseball Development Programme unveils baseball.scot, opens membership nationally for the first time, and invites aspiring players to its inaugural evaluation day on 20 June
The Scottish Baseball Development Programme, the registered Scottish charity (SCIO SC054940) and proud partner of the Scottish National Baseball League, has launched its new official website at baseball.scot and, for the first time, opened membership in the Programme to the public.
The launch marks a milestone for baseball in Scotland. The website is the new central home of the Programme, bringing together the senior national team, youth and community development, coaching staff, and supporter membership under a single, professional national platform. Visitors to baseball.scot can now register as official members of Scottish Baseball, receive a welcome pack, and directly support the Programme's mission of growing the game across Scotland.
"This is the moment we move from building the Programme to opening it up," said Steve Silverberg, founder and President of the Scottish Baseball Development Programme. "Scottish Baseball is more than a national team. It is a developmental platform for aspiring players, coaches, volunteers, families, and supporters of the game — in Scotland and beyond. With the launch of the website and the opening of membership, anyone who believes in what we are building can now be part of it."
The Scottish Baseball Programme operates the senior national baseball team and also delivers youth and community sessions in partnership with schools, clubs, and community groups, providing structured introductions to the game for young players and complete beginners across the country.
As the next step in that developmental mission, the Programme will host its first regional talent evaluation day on 20 June 2026 at Warriston Playing Fields in Edinburgh. The free event is open to aspiring players of all ages and abilities, offers a structured opportunity to be assessed by the Programme's coaching staff and an opportunity to learn more about the pathway into Scotland Baseball's development squads and national team. Places are limited, and registration is open now.
"Talent exists all across this country, and our job is to find it, develop it, and give it somewhere to go," Silverberg added. "The evaluation day is where that begins. Whether you have played for years or have never picked up a glove, we want to meet you."
