SNBL Welcomes Edinburgh Rays and Glasgow Eclipse for 2026 Season

The Scottish National Baseball League (SNBL) is pleased to announce that the Edinburgh Rays will join the league for the 2026 season in the AAA Division, while the newly-formed Glasgow Eclipse will compete in the A Division, further strengthening competitive baseball across Scotland.

The addition of the Edinburgh Rays represents a significant step forward for competitive baseball in Scotland. Established as one of the most successful clubs in recent years within the North Eastern Baseball League, the Rays have consistently demonstrated high standards of play, strong player development, and organisational strength. Their move into the SNBL reflects both their on-field success and their ambition to compete at the highest domestic level — and to help raise the bar for competitive baseball across Scotland.

Also joining the SNBL structure for 2026 is the Glasgow Eclipse, who will compete in the A Division, further expanding the league’s footprint in the west of Scotland.

As part of league restructuring ahead of the 2026 campaign, the Edinburgh Angels will now compete in the AAA Division this season, contributing to what is expected to be one of the strongest AAA fields in recent years.

The 2026 season schedule for both the A and AAA Divisions is expected to be released in the coming days. Opening Day is set for April 12th, marking the official start of the Scottish baseball season.

Looking Ahead to 2026

Following a highly competitive 2025 campaign, the league continues to build momentum both on and off the field. The arrival of the Edinburgh Rays signals a continued commitment by the SNBL to elevate standards, deepen competition, and support sustainable club growth nationwide.

An Edinburgh Cannons official commented on the new cross-town rivalry:
“The Rays have built an impressive record over the past several seasons and have shown they are ready to compete at the highest level in Scotland. Their addition to the AAA Division strengthens the league considerably, and we’re excited to welcome them for what promises to be an outstanding 2026 season.”
